Teaching Chopin – creating a singing melody, natural rubato and blossoming fioritura
Kris is returning to share with us his passion for another composer, Frédéric Chopin. We know his presentation will be full of new ideas and insights to help us both as teachers of Chopin and also as pianists ourselves.
Kris is a piano teacher and lecturer from Nottingham. He leads courses in ear training at The Guildhall School of Music and Drama and is also an award winning photographer in his spare time.

Karen Marshall
Music and Neurodiversity
We are delighted to be welcoming a long-term supporter of ours Karen Marshall back again for an inspiring session on neurodiversity in piano teaching. A trained classroom teacher and private piano tutor, author of many books including the Get Set Go! scheme, Karen is also chair of the British Dyslexia Association’s Music Committee. Drawing on her recent articles—including The Piano Stool for PianoDao and work on metacognition—alongside insights from her Collins Music book, Music and Neurodiversity: A Guide for Teachers and Parents, Karen will share practical studio strategies to adapt your piano pedagogy and cultivate an inclusive, empowering environment for every student.
June Armstrong
It’s all in the imagination!
June Armstrong has long been a favourite composer of ours and we are delighted to be welcoming her over to Yorkshire from Ireland to share with us about how to help our students develop meaningful stylistic playing and the art of story telling through their piano playing so that performances are lifted up to a higher level. June has been a piano teacher for over 30 years and has composed 25 books across all ability ranges full of delightfully atmospheric music that are a joy to teach.
